As Palmer is leaving the field with Nipper in his hand, a small children reaches up to touch Nipper's feathers. The child asks his father if he too can have a pigeon for a pet. Perhaps by standing up to the town and for what is right, Palmer has saved Nipper and shown others love for an animal, even a pigeon, is an important thing.
