Beans begins to escalate the treestumping of Dorothy to get a reaction from her, but she gives him none. His cruel behavior escalates until Dorothy finally does react. What is her reaction, and how does this affect Palmer?

Rather than scream at Beans for all of the horrible things he has done to her in the last weeks, Dorothy instead turns to Palmer and asks him "why are you doing this to me?" She begins crying and walks away. Palmer realizes that by allowing Beans to continue torturing Dorothy he has hurt her far worse than Beans has.
