Word of Mouse
What is the importance of "the woods" in the novel, Word of Mouse?
.

.
The woods is the place where animals act on their natural instincts in the narrative. Isaiah is there when he thinks that he should try to eat food that is natural for mice to eat such as nuts and berries instead of the food that humans eat. It is here that he finds himself at the bottom of the food chain as the mother hawk tries to feed him to her chicks. In addition, it is here that he releases his emotions by crying when he hears the word "lab" and jumping out of Hailey’s window. It is also here, however, that readers see that enemies can join forces to help each other as Isaiah and Mikayla try to save the chicks and the hawk realizes that Lucifer is the real threat and attacks him instead of attacking Isaiah and Mikayla.
