How does the author use flashback in the novel, Wonder Boys?
.

.
Although the main storyline proceeds linearly, the author occasionally utilizes flashbacks in order to provide necessary background information at various points in the novel. For example, although the novel begins with an introduction to the life and experiences of Grady Tripp, the novel later returns to the subject of his childhood to offer pertinent information such as the timing and manner of his parents’ deaths. The novel also tends o slightly digress from the main story whenever a new character is introduced, so that the reader can be given important background information about the character in question. Lastly, the final chapter summarizes the months of Grady’s life following the main storyline.
