What is the importance of Haldis Caverns in the novel, Wolfsbane?

Haldis Cavern is a cavern in the mountains near Vail where Calla and her pack once lived. Calla and her pack once patrolled the area to keep Searchers away, but Calla and Shay took the object hidden there and the Keepers have stopped the patrols there.
