Aunt Lily does not initially believe that Betty is harassing Annabelle, but realizes her error when Annabelle shows off the bruises she received from Betty. Aunt Lily later comes to blame Toby for all of the wrongs caused by Betty, along with everyone else in the community. Ironically, Aunt Lily comes to respect Toby when he is dressed up as Jordan, and must admit she is wrong when she discovers this and Toby later dies. In fact, Aunt Lily goes so far as to say that she was wrong to have judged Toby.
