What mistakes did the medical examiner make when performing Son's autopsy in the story, Witness to a Trial?

While examining Son's body, the medical examiner was far from thorough in his work. He didn't check for drugs, missing the phenobarbital that was present in Son’s system. He also missed the fact that Son was not even conscious when he was murdered.
