Who is Sam Rosen from Without Remorse and what is their importance?

Sam Rosen is a physician and neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife, Sarah, meet Kelly and Pam when their boat breaks down. They aslo assist Pam during her withdrawal from Quaaludes. The Emergency Room staff calls Rosen in when Kelly is brought in with gunshot wounds. He treats Kelly, and they remain friends.
