Thomas Manor is the overall setting for the majority of the novel. Andromeda refers to this as a castle. It is set in the desert so that there is limited interaction with people in an effort to protect others from Magnus's curse. There are a lot of specific settings within the manor, including a hallway where snow falls all the time and a room where the chimney randomly spews out soot. Magnus has a large bedroom that fills with blood, threatening to drown him. The library is also cursed with a Librarian who throws books at Andromeda while she is trying to create an amulet to cleanse the room. The manor is huge, and some of the rooms become important settings in their own right because of the events that take place there.
