Pretty Leslie is symbolic of the stereotypes and drama that permeate high school life. Emoni sees Pretty Leslie as a snobby yet pretty girl who gets whatever she wants because of her looks. However, in truth Leslie has no familial support and problems of her own. Despite Emoni's circumstances as a teen mom, Pretty Leslie actually envies her. Leslie sees Emoni's support systems and self-assured nature and feels inferior to her. Pretty Leslie changes to ugly Leslie with her drinking an insults while in Spain. However, once Pretty Leslie and Emoni actually talk, they both realize how they have each wrongly judged one another.
