Emoni's name means faith. This is important because throughout her journey, Emoni struggles with having the faith that she can follow her dreams and be a wonderful mother to Emma. Despite her fears concerning her future, she learns to take numerous "leaps of faith" as the work concludes. Emoni decides to attend college part-time, despite her misgivings about her academic abilities. She takes a leap of faith in trusting Malachi, given her history with men. She also has enough faith in herself to approach Chef Williams for a job. Lastly, she has enough Faith in herself to allow 'Buela to live her own life, trusting she will make it through on her own.
