As Samar sits beneath Red's branches during each of her nightly visits, Red says that Samar looks at three different things. Samar looks at the moon and she also gazes up into Red's large branches, but the most important object at which she gazes during her visits is the green house. When Samar looks at the green house, it is implied that she is longing to make friends with the boy next door, whose name is Stephen.
