Charlie's real name is Charlemagne, but she goes by the name Charlie. The name Charlie symbolizes her tomboy character and the fact that her mother does not know her. The name Charlemagne symbolizes her mother's aspiration for greatness. However, both names symbolize her spirit. Her decision to use the name Charlie symbolizes that she is her own person. The name Charlemagne symbolizes that she is a leader. She brings life to Colby. She gives Howard the friend he yearns for and gives Bertha and Gus the family they have always wanted.
