For Anya, the play is a sign of pain. Meredith writes and puts on a stage-version of her mother’s fairy tale hoping that it will make her mother love her. Instead, Anya is only angry with Meredith. Meredith had no way to know that she was performing a play that was a version of her mother’s life, and that Anya still missed Sasha, the prince she had meet in the fairy tale.
