.
The community center on the reservation is where Marie works, and where she encounters obstacles to her goal of bringing better quality food to local families. She explains to Virgil that Delia, her boss, has been opposing her efforts to use the funds she received from a grant that would allow her to buy fresh bison meat for the food program. It later turns out that Delia has been trying to keep Marie from finding that she has been embezzling funds from the center, which Virgil and Marie discover by breaking into Delia’s office at night.
