Winter Counts
How does Virgil change over the course of the novel, Winter Counts?
.
.
Over the course of the novel, Virgil grapples with how to keep his own desire for revenge from interfering with his ability to contribute to the lives of others. He is eventually able to grow away from the desire for retribution and to learn to place more value on mercy and forgiveness. This is possible in part because of his investment in his community and personal relationships, including a renewed romantic connection with Marie Short Bear.
