Who takes on responsibility for the family after Harvey's death in the novel, Winds of Blame?

Twenty-year-old Ray, the oldest of the Doane children, assumes responsibility for protecting the family from his father's abuse and for providing relief from that abuse. After his father's death he becomes head of the household and runs the family farm.
