Why does Sadie continue to protect Win in the book, Win: A Novel?

Sadie's character highlights the gray line of the law that Win walks. Even though Sadie does not condone Win's actions from a legal standpoint, she understands why he did what he did. For that reason, she is by Win's bedside to talk to him as soon as he wakes up and walks the gray line of the law herself by not telling the police that Teddy's brothers threatened her. This would force her to confirm the theory that Win assaulted Teddy. She does not want the police to arrest Win despite his actions.
