Why does Willow have mixed reactions to helping Guy find the book, Tristes Tropiques, in the novel, Willow?

Willow has mixed reactions to helping Guy find this book because it was her father's favorite book. The two teenagers bond over their love of this classic piece of literature and at the end of the novel, Willow gives Guy her father's copy of the book.
