What metaphors are used in Wilderness by Jim Morrison?

In the second poem, Drywater, Morrison is among the people who run and hide in the canyon, and refers to music being changed by the noise that "shot out." It is possible he is speaking metaphorically about the Vietnam War and the way it shattered the innocence and changed the culture of America.
