Why do Jung and her family move to Meteorite Street in the nonfiction book, Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China?

Jung and her family move to Meteorite Street as "punishment" because her parents were capitalist roaders. The house is large and beautiful, although the family occupies only the top floor where there is no running water. Jung says she is "so thirsty for beauty" that she doesn't mind the inconveniences.
