Where does Cheryl's hike of the PCT begin? What thoughts does Cheryl have upon arriving at her starting point in Chapter 2: “Splitting”?

Cheryl flies to Los Angeles and then is driven to the town of Mojave. While filling out some information at her motel, Cheryl realizes that all of her connections with friends and family have faded away. She thinks about getting herself a companion at a local bar to escape all of her negative emotions, something she's done often in the previous years, but decides against it.
