Who is Papa from Wideacre and what is their importance?

Papa is Beatrice's father. She spends many hours with Papa, learning about Wideacre, and she believes that she will always have a home on the estate. When Papa says she will have to leave her home and marry one day, Beatrice notes that the knowledge marked the end of her childhood. Once Harry returns, she grows increasingly angry at Papa for pushing her aside. Beatrice agrees with Ralph that Papa's death would clear the way for her eventual ownership of Wideacre, but she is appalled when Papa is found dead.
