Jeanette describes her birth mother, Ann, as straightforward, kind, and is immediately accepting of her (Jeanette's) sexual orientation. She has had four husbands and lives non-judgmentally, in addition to being self-reliant, optimistic, and capable of doing her own handiwork. She has an ease in her body that Jeanette notes is similar to her own.
