What are the motifs in White Teeth by Zadie Smith?

Madness is a motif through the story. Ophelia Diagilo, Archie's first wife, was supposedly driven to madness by Archie’s indecision. Allusions to Hamlet’s Ophelia are aptly used. Archie also has a bout of madness with his suicide attempt.
