The language throughout the novel is very intellectual and philosophical. All of the characters exhibit similar characteristics and it can be difficult to determine which character is talking since they all talk with the same philosophical, debate-style tone. The topics are typically personal and intimate concepts, such as sex, love and especially one's impending death.
