An owl icon is the symbol of Dear Diary. It appears on Leila’s laptop desktop after she successfully establishes contact with Dear Diary. The owl represents wisdom and knowledge, the very things which Dear Diary opposes the Committee collecting and controlling for their own purposes. The owl also symbolizes truth, at which Dear Diary is determined to spread and preserve.
