The name "Little Crow" is significant, in that it is another manifestation of the novel's inclusion of birds as a symbol of Sequoyah's identity, or affinity with nature. While the city / town itself is a man-made construction, the metaphoric sense here is that the town is something of a catalyst for Sequoyah to discover important truths about himself. In other words, while actual birds represent nature, the bird-name of the town represents opportunities for Sequoyah to encounter, and become more comfortable with, his own nature.
