What does Chunyu come to realize after moving to Saigon in the novel, Where Waters Meet?

Living in Saigon, Chunyu detects that many of the material conditions of the Communist Party officials, which tend to be opulent, are at odds with the ideals they espouse. She comes to many of these realizations living in the city.
