What happened to Landon Miles after he testified against Nancy in the novel, Where Are the Children?

Landon Miles, a Boston psychiatrist and professor at the Harvard Medical School, had a crush on Nancy and testified against her at her trial. He has been missing for some years as a deserter from the Army and has been living in Canada in order to avoid capture and prosecution for being AWOL.
