Who is Norman Hradsky from When the Lion Feeds and what is their importance?

A former employer of Dufford Charleywood, Hradsky is a Jew who commands respect but does not always get it. He speaks with a stutter that tends to be so severe that he has someone else talk for him most of the time. He is already mining at Witwatersrand before Sean and Duff arrive. He is a wicked task master with little patience for disloyalty. He has one daughter, whose involvement with Duff is responsible for him being run out of his job.
