Who translates for Tom when he arrives at the Indian school in the novel, When the Legends Die?

Benny is a thirty-year-old Ute who lives at the school. He is a vocational instructor, who wears his hair short and dresses in the white man's style. Benny, however, still remembers how to speak his native tongue, so he translates for Tom.
