When the English Fall
How is the Amish settlement described in the novel, When the English Fall?
.
.
The Amish settlement where Jacob, his family, and his neighbors live is not named. It is the home of the Schrock family, the Fisher family, the Michaelson family, the Stolfutz family, the Sorenson family, and others. All of the homes in the settlement have fields where the families grow food and raise livestock. Those who live in the settlement make their livelihoods by farming of craftwork. The settlement has preachers, deacons, and a bishop, as well. Every Sunday members of the settlement gather in a preacher's home for Sabbath worship. The settlement is a quiet, peaceful place free from technology and the complications of the English world. This changes when violence enters the community after the solar storm and the Blackout.
