Why is Miranda so surprised and happy when Annemarie is still at her house the morning after a sleepover?

In Chapter 35, Annemarie sleeps over at Miranda's. When Annemarie arrives, her father has brought special food for her to eat. The next morning, Annemarie is still there. Miranda is happy because Sal always went home in the middle of the night when they had a sleepover.
