Why do Annemarie, Colin and Miranda all quit their jobs after they get them back?

In Chapter 37, the sandwich shop owner allows them to come back to work, but tells them Julia is no longer allowed in his shop. It is then that the kids realize the shop owner is prejudiced against Julia because she is black. They all three quit.
