Who is Colin and what job does he get for himself, Miranda and Annemarie?

In Chapter 15, Colin, a boy in Miranda's class, begins having lunch with her and Annemarie. One day Colin convinces the owner of a sandwich shop to give him, Miranda, and Annemarie a job at the shop during their lunch hour. For payment, the shop owner allows them to make a sandwich out of the setup tray and take a soda.
