What happens after Miranda phones Annemarie on New Year's Day?

In Chapter 40, Miranda goes out on New Year's Day and calls Annemarie from a pay phone. Annemarie's father invites her over and Miranda and Annemarie make amends. However, Miranda did not tell her mother where she was going and she gets in trouble when her mother tracks her down to Annemarie's house.
