What does Sal tell Miranda about why he wanted to not be friends for awhile?

Miranda visits Sal at home after the accident. Sal explains to her that he wanted to take a break from their friendship because she was his only friend and he wanted some more friends, hopefully male friends. They decide it is okay to be friends again, just not exclusively.
