Darwin's mother taught him Rastafarian beliefs. After Darwin told his mother he had no choice but to go to work as a grave-digger, he cut off his dreadlocks in the yard of his childhood home. His haircut was a symbol that he was breaking his vows the Rasta took not to cut their hair and not to have any dealings with dead bodies.
