The exposition of the novel is given in the first two parts of the novel. The section “Oathbreaker” describes how Darwin has to break the oaths he made as a Rasta to work in a cemetery to support himself and his mother. The prelude “Corbeau” and the section “The Right and Proper Way to Die” gives exposition about Yejide and her family’s strange abilities.
