Nimo is described as loud and feisty. She confronts the boys when they tease her, and often outsmarts them. Like Maryam, she wears a baati but hers is more colorful. Nimo is extremely loyal to Maryam, the two of them planning their Canadian scholarships together, and feels pain when Maryam is married off. Because of what happens to Maryam, she decides she wants to become a lawyer for women and girl refugees so they can know their rights, proving the theme of fairness within the refugee system.
