Why did Paul's father move his family to Arizona?

Paul's father moved the family from New York to Arizona. He was drawn by the weather and the cost of living. He believed he would better be able to pay for his son's college educations if he lived in Arizona. Also, it gave him a chance to establish his own regional cardiology practice.
