What city in Michigan does KB call home in the novel, What the Fireflies Knew?

KB and her family lived in Detroit before the novel began. They lived in a dangerous part of the city. It is loud because of cars with blaring stereos. At one point there is a shooting nearby. The lawns are covered in dirt rather than grass. Despite the poor conditions, KB wants to return to Detroit with her sister and mother. Despite falling in love with Lansing, the girls happily leave with their mother to return to Detroit at the end of the novel when their grandfather has helped their mother with a downpayment on a house.
