Who does Caleb believe is responsible for starting the rumors about his family in the novel, What Light?

Caleb believes Mrs. Moore is responsible for spreading some of the more hurtful rumors about what happened the day that Caleb went after his sister with a knife. Because Jeremiah was at Caleb’s house the day that the incident occurred, his mother will not allow him to be friends with Caleb any longer.
