Who is William K from What Is the What and what is their importance?

William K grew up with Valentino in Marial Bai. He often tells unlikely tales, even about deaths in his own family. He is, nevertheless, one of Valentino's best friends. After Deng's death, William provides great comfort to Valentino. Unfortunately, he dies from sickness just before they reach Pinyudo.
