What Happened to Rachel Riley?
What does the documentary Anne watches about the Salem Witch trials come to represent in the novel, What Happened to Rachel Riley?
.
.
Anna watches a documentary on the Salem Witch Trials on Halloween with her parents, and these trials represent the ways in which women were and are injured at the hands of people who are jealous or want to get rid of them. In the Witch Trials, wealthy girls accused less fortunate ones of being witches and the poorer girls were then killed. In Anna’s world, Rachel takes the fall for speaking out against the game the boys played, and she is ostracized for it even there is no definitive proof that she did start the fire.
