What is Frannie's relationship with Alice and Elisabeth in the novel, What Alice Forgot?

Although she isn’t technically part of the family, Frannie acts as the grandmother to Alice and Elisabeth. She was a neighbor that acted as a mother for them when their own mother was too depressed to raise them after their father passed away.
