Francis' parents build a large home when they move to Blairlogie, and in remembrance of his father's family back in England, they name it Chegwidden Lodge. Francis spends his early preschool years in this home, although he rarely sees his parents. It is a large, modern house with a great many windows. Despite its appearance of openness, visitors are not readily welcome at Chegwidden Lodge.
