Percival Bowles is a character who acts as a symbol that personifies the baser instincts of the human being. Though everything is going right for Woody, and he finds himself clothed and fed for the first time in his life, Bowles is still able to tempt him with the promise of something better, money. Coming from a poverty stricken background, Woody could never believe that money is the root of all evil. But through Bowles, he learns that greed can lead a man to turn his back on his truest friends and greatest gifts.
