How does Uncle Kojo change after TJ joins the army in the novel, We Need New Names?

When TK joins the Army and goes to Afghanistan, Uncle Kojo starts to drink heavily. He also starts to drive around in his car, so Darling and Aunt Fostalina start calling him Vasca de Gama. At the end of the novel, Uncle Kojo is thrilled that the military captures and kills Bin Laden.
